Strong Body Strong Mind

I've got great news for you ~~ your body wants to be as fit and strong and gorgeous as you want it to be! It's instinct is to be powerful and resilient.  Every single one of us has the instinct in our body to move, to be active.  If you are not in the habit of being active, you are at risk for a number of ailments that would probably not be an issue if you just moved.  Moving your body on a daily basis, continually throughout the day, is your body's instinct because it is essential to its well being and survival.  If we want to thrive instead of just barely survive, we must embrace the value of trying, the value of sweating, the value of moving.  Our bodies need movement and exertion if we want to survive.

Exertion - using your body, using your energy, using your muscles, aiming to break a sweat - is easy to find when you know where to look. You can exert yourself anywhere! I always look for the places in my day to day life where I can add a little more exertion, try a little harder, move a little faster.  As little as 30 minutes of cardio 3 to 5 times a week can add years to your life. So if exertion isn't a regular part of your life, you need to add it to your schedule.  Just try doing 30 minutes in the morning. Or break it up into 10 or 15 minute sessions.

When we move we are building the strength our body craves. We feel happy, clear, vibrant, alive, energized and powerful. When you get moving your heart races, you feel exhilarated, excited, like you're really alive. And when you're done your body hurts in that amazing way to let you know you really used it. Your brain is sharper. Your senses are more alert. That's the kind of stuff that makes you feel good about the day.
That is the power of the exertion.  It makes your body strong. It makes your heart strong.  And it makes your mind strong.

The takeaway for us today is that any energy we save by being able to toss jeans in the washer and dryer should be spent running and hiking not wasted away sitting and watching as life passes by!

I challenge and encourage you to get up, get out and get your move on today, right now!
